This Saturday’s games brings some interesting matches as I’ve picked out a nice single bet from League Two in England. There are also a couple of big games in the higher divisions too which i give my initial thoughts on.
There is no doubt the big game of the weekend is at the Etihad with Manchester City hosting Leicester City in what is a top of the table clash! I never thought i’d say that in February of ANY year of late! Manchester City are quite rightly the big favourites as they do have the better players on paper and their players have a lot of experience than Leicester’s. Although while i’ve been writing this the home sides price has drifted to 1.62. The only factor that is stopping me from backing this as my single bet is that it’s an early kick off. Strange things happen in early kick offs so i’ll leave that decision to you.
The English Championship also has a juicy game this weekend as 3rd placed Burnley host league leaders Hull City. Despite being the away team Hull are slight favourites but Burnley are no slouches at Turf Moor with only 2 home defeats since they dropped back into the Championship last May. A Burnley 0 Asian Handicap bet isn’t a bad shout at 2.05 with BetVictor.
However, for me, the best value is in League Two as Northampton Town host York City in what is a top vs. bottom clash at Sixfields. Northampton have had a good transfer window by bringing in James Collins on loan from Shrewsbury. He is the main reason why Shrewsbury are currently in League One after scoring 15 goals for them last season in League Two. Northampton were already strong without him and should now be stronger. York are struggling for goals and i can only see the leaders and top scorers outscoring the bottom club on Saturday.
There isn’t much to note north of the border in Scotland as there is only 1 Premiership game. Aberdeen hope to continue their good form after beating Celtic 2-1 last night with an away victory against an out of form St Johnstone. A win for the Dons will draw them level with the Glasgow side as the title race hots up. St Johnstone will be trying to get over their disappointing loss to Championship side Hibernian in the Scottish League Cup Semi-Final.
