This weekend is dominated by international friendlies (boring!) so all of the top leagues are out of action for betting purposes. Generally i advise avoiding betting on friendlies as there are so many variables that could affect the game even in the slightest. However, the English and Scottish lower leagues don’t stop unless a team has an international player in their ranks. Luckily a few League One teams are lacking in that respect so there are some games to take a look at some free football tips for this weekend’s matches.
Most games are on a Friday due to the bank holiday weekend so looking at League One we have Sheffield United entertaining a lowly Crewe side. Nigel Adkins will be looking to get their play-off bid back on track. Peterborough, who are always good for a few goals, entertain an out of form Coventry City while two in-form teams Barnsley and Scunthorpe play each other at Oakwell. League leaders Burton Albion play on the Saturday and are at home to a struggling Oldham Athletic.
League Two sees a near full program on Friday with runaway leaders looking to extend their lead at home to Newport County while the chasing pack battle it out for the two remaining automatic promotion spots. Bristol Rovers have hit a great run of form since their takeover by winning their last 5 games. They have a very winnable game against an inconsistent Cambridge United. Rovers have powered up to 3rd place now and are looking good for back to back promotions. Oxford United, who lie in 2nd place, have a home tie with Stevenage to look forward to. The last time these two clubs met the U’s sailed to a 5-1 victory. Oxford to score 2 or more in an accumulator looks tempting.
The National League sees Cheltenham and Forest Green, the two front runners, in action on home soil and should record another 2 wins between them as they face Aldershot and Borehamwood. There may be some value in bottom club Kidderminster Harriers winning away at Woking. Woking are currently on a seven game losing streak! Kidderminster managed a 2-1 away win over Lincoln City last time out, arguably a tougher game.
In Scotland, league leaders Rangers, Dunfermline and East Fife all have home matches and BetVictor offers odds of 2.76 for the treble. Could be worth a look!
