English Football Preview

Top flight English football returns this weekend after the international break with all of the big guns in action offering us a couple of juicy fixtures at Anfield and the Emirates.

The early kick-off sees Liverpool face rivals Everton at Anfield and while Liverpool generally get the better of their Merseyside rivals, i have a strict rule of leaving the early afternoon Saturday kick-offs alone! But Liverpool are 1.70 with BetVictor for the 3 points. Tottenham continue their pursuit of leaders Chelsea with a tough away match against Burnley but are far too short to back at under 1.70, especially with Harry Kane absent. Man Utd will look to continue their excellent unbeaten run at home to West Brom. The Red Devils will still be without Ibrahimovich however and West Brom can be a tricky side. The main Sunday match sees Arsenal look to end their poor run of form as they welcome Man City. I feel Arsenal will need to be on top of their game to pick up anything but both sides know where the goal is.

Possible Bets

Arsenal/Man City Over 2.5 Match Goals
Leicester Over 1.5 Team Goals

In the Championship Newcastle will look to keep their lead as they welcome struggling Wigan to the North East. Time is running out for Wigan and Newcastle can put another nail in their coffin on Saturday but the Magpies are very short without a handicap at under 1.50. Newcastle’s title rivals Brighton are also at home against a relegation threatened side in Blackburn. Blackburn are the draw specialists of late, drawing their last 4, so Brighton are not guaranteed the 3 points. At the other end of the table Rotherham could be relegated on Saturday and face Fulham at the New York Stadium. Fulham are big scorers this season with only Newcastle scoring more, expect a few goals in that game. Zola’s nightmare spell at Birmingham could continue as they travel to Portman Road to face Ipswich. Draw No Bet looks good for the home side.

Possible Bets

Brentford/Bristol City Over 2.5 Match Goals
Ipswich Draw No Bet

Sheffield United’s mid-week win over Millwall means Bolton and Fleetwood have more ground to make up. They have 2 very win-able home fixtures against Chesterfield and Swindon Town respectively. The Wanderers look good with a -1.25 Asian Handicap at 1.85 with Bet365 considering they have scored 16 in their last 5 matches. Another game of interest sees free-scorers Rochdale entertain Northampton. The Cobblers are often among the goals as well so expect over 2.5 match goals to hit there, the price is shortening everywhere though. Southend United might fancy a couple of goals at Roots Hall, a feat they usually achieve, but their opponents Oldham are pretty water tight at the back considering their league position so i’d tempted to give that one a miss. Gillingham have been pretty decent for goals of late and we could well see some at Stadium MK as they travel to Milton Keynes.

Possible Bets

Bolton Win (-1.25 Asian Handicap)
Rochdale/Northampton Over 2.5 Match Goals

With Plymouth winning the mid-week League Two top-of-the-table clash against Doncaster both sides are back in action as the race for the League Two title hots up. Doncaster have a short journey to Grimsby while Plymouth welcome Accrington to the South West. Both teams are quite back-able at 1.91 and 2.50 but Stanley are a side in good form so Plymouth may struggle. The league’s bottom club Leyton Orient are in trouble on and off the pitch but do have a home game against Wycombe to look forward to, i wouldn’t expect the O’s to get much from the game though. Notts County have discovered some form under Kevin Nolan and are a great price to beat Colchester at over 2.50 with BetVictor. Colchester haven’t won away in 7 matches whereas Notts County haven’t lost at home in 7 matches. Sods law is a Colchester win?

Possible Bets

Doncaster Win
Notts County Draw No Bet
